TERMS OF THE COMPETITION

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Two-person teams of one male and one female amateur golfer who are active NYSGA Members.
  • Must have an active, up-to-date USGA Handicap Index issued through their NYSGA member club (no limit).
  • For the senior division, men/women must be at least 55/50 years old as of July 22, 2024.

 

ENTRY INFORMATION

  • Entries: All teams must register online prior to the established deadline (see below). Entries by mail or fax will not be accepted.
  • Entry Fee: $250 per team, which includes golf, cart, range, dinner, prizes, and an exclusive tournament player gift.
  • Deadline: Entries must be received prior to the deadline (12PM EST on Wednesday, July 10, 2024). Late entries will not be accepted, regardless of reason.

  • Refund Policy: A portion of the entry fee, based on the schedule below, will be refunded regardless of reason if the NYSGA is notified via phone or email (315-471-6979 or champs@nysga.org). 

    • Withdrawal PRIOR TO entry deadline: Entry fee less $20

    • Withdrawal AFTER entry deadline: Entry fee less $50

    • Withdrawal WITHIN 2 DAYS of the competition: No Refund

 

FIELD SIZE, WAITLIST, AND HANDICAP REVIEW

  • Field/Division Size: 104 total players; 26 teams (Amateur), 26 teams (Senior Amateur). If any field does not reach capacity, open spots will be filled using teams from another division's waitlist.
  • Determining Field & Waitlist Procedure:  Registration for this Championship is NOT on a first come, first served basis. The field is selected "low-to-high", based on the teams combined Handicap Index as of the entry close date. Each team's entry will be added to the Championship's 'pending registration' field and their credit card will not be charged. When entries close on July 10th, each team's combined Handicap Index will be calculated and ordered from low-to-high. The team's in each division with the lowest combined Handicap Index, based on division size (above), will then be approved by charging their credit card the full entry fee. Approved teams will immediately receive an email confirmation confirming their spot in the Championship.
  • Waitlisted Teams: Any team that that does not earn a spot in the field will be placed on a waitlist ordered by their combined Handicap Index and notified of their status and order by email.
  • Handicap Index Review: A player may be subject to Handicap review if he does not have at least five scores posted since August 1st, 2023. The NYSGA reserves the right to amend the field/waitlist at any time and for any reason.

 

SUBSTITUTIONS

All substitutions must be made by emailing champs@nysga.org with the following policies in place:

  • Before Entry Deadline: A player may add a new partner at any time prior to the close of entries. 
  • After Entry Deadline: If a team is selected for the Championship and then requires a partner change, they are permitted to do so as long as the team's combined Handicap Index remains at or below the established low-to-high cutoff at the time entries closed.

 

FORMAT, DIVISIONS, HANDICAP ALLOWANCE & TIES

  • Format: 18 holes of modified Chapman stroke play (see below), gross and net
  • Chapman Stroke Play: Two players play as partners, each partner plays from the teeing ground and plays the partner's ball for the second shot. After the second shot, partners select the ball with which they wish to score and play that ball alternately to complete the hole. This format is modified on par-3s, so that the decision as to which ball to play alternately must be made after the tee shot
  • Divisions: There are two divisions in this Championship: 11th NYS Amateur & Senior Amateur Mixed Team Championships
  • Handicap Allowances: The player with the lower Course Handicap is allowed 60% of their Course Handicap. The player with the higher Course Handicap is allowed 40% of their Course Handicap
  • Ties: If there is a tie for the gross winners, there will be a hole-by-hole playoff. Ties for the net winners will be broken by the USGA method of matching scorecards.

 

YARDAGE FOR DIVISIONS

  • Men: 6,328y par 72 (70.5/133)
  • Women: 5,632y par 72 (73.0/131)
  • Senior Men: 5,865y par 72 (68.7/119)
  • Senior Women: 5,190y par 72 (70.2/125)

 

CADDIES & GOLF CARTS

  • Caddies: The use of a caddie is prohibited.
  • Golf Carts: The use of a motorized golf cart is required, payment for which is included in the entry fee.

 

INFORMATION & PAIRINGS

Complete Championship details will be emailed to players and posted on this website after entries close. Pairings requests are not honored.

The NYSGA will be providing a complimentary dinner following the round for all competitors.
